TAA was designed in conjunction with medical professionals off the back of the idea for the Major Incident App as MFT found that it would utilise the same functionality and had very similar underlying principles. As with MIA the solution uses cutting edge technology to aid transplant-related alerts communications to benefit public health.

Business Challenges
We were approached by one of our long-standing clients Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and TrusTech to create two revolutionary apps and a robust single App Management Portal (CMS). This case study details the Transplant Alert App (TAA) which was created with the objective of improving communication and coordination between the transplant coordination team and patients on the waiting list, ensuring that no patients unnecessarily miss out on transplants and that they are ready should a compatible organ become available. The opted-in patients will receive an organ alert that bypasses any silent or do not disturb modes.

When an organ becomes available for a patient on the transplant waiting list, the response time is absolutely critical, it was noted that many patients have previously been uncontactable particularly during unsociable hours with their phones being on silent or do not disturb mode. Due to the need for rapid response, the following solution was uniquely designed for the app and App Management Portal (CMS) to include;- Bypass silent and Do Not Disturb modes on the users’ phone to ensure critical alerts are never missed
- A standard messaging feature so the transplant team can contact you e.g. to check your bloods are up to date
- Easy system for ensuring your details are up to date and you have notified your Transplant Coordinator / Team of any upcoming holidays etc
- Confirm your availability to attend via the app
- Invitation only system (App and CMS)
